All bills that made it through the legislative process this year are headed to the Governor’s desk and Governor Newsom has until Monday September 30th to sign or veto them.
There are actions we can all take to communicate our support to the Governor (use the Ujoin link ). Then, we want to make sure that we communicate our thanks to the many decision makers who offered their support along the way because they often hear advocates’ valid concerns, but less often our thanks.
Bill Status
- AB 518 Paid Family Leave for Chosen and Extended Family
Status: Unfortunately, this priority bill did not move forward this year. A lot of great work was done, but additional time is needed for discussions on the bill’s minimal fiscal impact. These multi-year campaigns are not uncommon. Equitable access to Paid Family Leave is important to many groups and the work will continue. In the meantime, please note that the bill number AB 518 was amended to move forward another bill concept and is no longer related to paid family leave for chosen family. - AB 2428 Community Based Adult Services (CBAS)
Status: This priority bill is on the Governor’s desk awaiting action! You can send an email here and here to further voice support.
